Flip Book

  1. It says your video is "currently unavailable." Just thought I'd let you know, since my guess is that you don't know that, and it's possible you would want to fix it (unless it's my computer... wouldn't put it past it.)

Anyway, I thought the music notes at the beginning were an interesting way to start. The quote "Fuck the Illumination" (as I believe it said) at the end was quite interesting. I always love the use of text! An "abstract" quote like that gets me to think more about the animation, and I find myself wondering what the artist meant. What is "the illumination?" What does the artist have against it? Does it mean something personal to the artist, or did the artist come up with a phrase that wasn't supposed to mean anything at all? I think that asking those questions are a good thing in art. If I knew exactly what everything was supposed to mean, then chances are I would be uninterested. If I had no idea what you were trying to get across at all, if it were an extremely abstract scribble, then I wouldn't understand it enough to think about it. The use of text in this manner is good, because I can relate enough to the words used for them to mean something to me, but I still find myself wondering why the artist chose them. Finally, I absolutely loved the surprised/annoyed/whatever faces at the end of the book. It was definitely a humorous way to end. I could be wrong, but I assumed you put those in there as a way to show your feelings at the time of finishing the animation. I'm sure you were glad to be done, but having just drawn twenty pages, you were tired of looking at it, and just wanted the process of handing it in to be over with (at least that's how I felt.) Having just finished the same project, I was able to relate to those faces, so they made me laugh. It is definitely amusing when an otherwise serious animation ends in a way that seems to just say "bleh" (one of my favorite words...) Overall, I thought the book was enjoyable.

  2. I also found your flip book interesting by starting and ending it with words. The pictures drawn were shaded and very detailed, especially the night scene. I really liked the animation you created.

  3. I liked your flipbook a lot, I thought it was very interesting and creative how you used a lot of letters and words. I liked that it was a bit random and I also liked the music notes that you had floating around. The way that you colored in the words was also pretty cool .

  4. This was definetely my favorite flipbook animation! It caught my attention from the beginning and i thought it was very linear as if it was saying a story or a message. I liked the word input and the musical notes, very impressing!

  5. I really like how it starts with music. I also really like how you incorporate text throughout the animation. I don’t know much about the illuminati other than from Dan Brown books but overall it was a good, very well drawn animation.

  6. I love music and that it started was that was awesome. I also thought the end was funny and actually found myself laughing. I liked how simple it was but the story it told was pretty powerful.

  8. the subliminal messaging was a great way to approach this project. I love the way you constructed the pyramid and then contextualized it as an Illuminati symbol. Great work
